Mary Castle School of International Studies offers many excellent school programs for students and their families.

 

Breakfast Program

Our breakfast program is well underway for the 2012-2013 school year.

Payment for breakfast will only be accepted in advance.  Money will not be accepted daily.

The cost is $5.00 per week for each student. If your student is eligible for reduced meals, the cost is $1.00 per student per week.

Please put your student's money in a sealed envelope identified with the child's name, his or her teacher's name, and the amount of money in the envelope. Those students eligible for free meals will receive breakfast at no charge. We must have an approved application on file in our office for the free and reduced students. NO CHARGES WILL BE ALLOWED.

 

Choir

The choir meets once a week on Thursday after school for 5th and 6th grade students.

 

Before and After Care

Before and After Care, a child care program or students in grades one through six, is available to Mary Castle School of International Studies families.

The before school care is from 6:00 to 7:30 a.m. and the after school care is from 2:30 to

6:00 p.m. Caregiver to student ratio is 1 to 15.

Program content includes arts, crafts, games, afternoon snacks, guest performances, computer lab time, and homework supervision.

 

Lawrence North Peer Program

Students from the high school serve as mentors to students at Mary Castle.

 

Math Pentathlon

An after school program is available to students that are interested in applying their math skills in a game format. This club is for students in grade one through six. 

 

Oasis Tutors

Through the OASIS Intergenerational Tutoring Program, older adults work one-on-one with students in primary grades who are expereincing reading and language difficulty.

 

Running Club

An after school program for any interested student which is sponsored by faculty and family members to promote fitness. This club participates in the Jingle Run and a 5k run in the spring.

 

Operation School Bell

School clothes are provided to qualified students.  Contact our school social worker for more information.

 

Recycling Initiatives

Student led initiatives for recycling of paper, and reduction of water usage.

 

Gallahue Mental Health Services

This resource provides services to Mary Castle students.  Contact our social worker for more information.

 

Safe Schools Program

Presentations and discussions that promote a safe and orderly environment within the school are scheduled in August and September.

 


Lawrence North Literacy Support

Students from Lawrence North High School come each week to offer literacy support with individual students in grades 4, 5, and 6.
