One World Walk-A-Bout at Mary Castle School of International Studies< Go back

November 14th, 2014
On October 9th the students of Mary Castle, School of International Studies, participated in the One World Walk-A-Bout sponsored by our PFO.  This year’s theme of the Walk-A-Bout was the Sister Cities of Indianapolis.
In COMPASS class the students learned that Indianapolis has eight sister cities around the world:
Campinas, Brazil
Northamptonshire County, UK
Cologne, Germany
Piran, Slovenia
Monza, Italy
Hyderbad, India
Taipei, Taiwan
Hangzhou, China
They researched the sister cities in groups and made comparisons to Indianapolis on cultural differences like clothing, entertainment, economy, language, athletics and any other topic that interested the group. Each group then presented what they had learned to the class.
During the October 9th Walk-A-Bout items were displayed from those cities including flags and posters that students had made in their classrooms to represent the culture.  Even though it rained a little that day, the students had a wonderful time, got some fresh air and learned a little more about the world around them.
